Take a Stand
Simple conservation ideas like reducing waste by recycling and consuming
less, driving less, or just turning off electronics when they aren't in
use are some of the best ways to protect our planet, yet often we are
not willing to make simple sacrifices for the good of the planet. If we
intend to drive change and create a better future for younger and future
generations we need to commit to a lifestyle of good stewardship and healthy
environmental habits.
Join us in taking a stand for the environment. Below are some things
we can commit to together to make a difference:
Respect the Earth and life in all
its diversity
We need to agree to recognize that all beings on the earth are interdependent
and every form of life has value regardless of its worth to human beings.
Care for the community of life
We need to accept that with the right to own, manage, and use natural
resources comes the duty to prevent environmental harm and to protect
the rights of people.
Care for future generations
We must take a stand to transmit to future generations, values, traditions,
and institutions that support the long-term flourishing of the Earth's
human and ecological communities.
Protect and Restore Past Damage
We must agree to repair past damage that has been done to the environment
and seek to make responsible lifestyle choices today that will be sustainable
for the future.
Seek to Prevent Harm
We must apply the knowledge and education that we have to prevent environmental
harm wherever possible and exercise caution when faced with environmental
issues with which we are unfamiliar.
Adopt new patterns of production and consumption
We must seek to adopt new ways of producing the products that we use,
and must focus on using only those products that minimize harm to the
environment. Only by doing this can we hope to live a lifestyle that is
sustainable for all. |
