What is Perf Go Green?
Perf Go Green is a marketer and distributor of biodegradable plastics.  The company produces a new line of patented biodegradable products incorporating recycled plastics that begin to breakdown in a landfill environment in 12-24 months, leaving no residue or harmful toxins behind.

How did Perf Go Green get started?
Perf Go Green is the brain child of successful entrepreneur, Tony Tracy.  Tracy, chairman and CEO of Perf Go Green, entered the trash bag market seven years ago with the launch of Perf, the trash bag with a patented dispensing system that was sold in chain stores, including Wal-Mart and ShopRite.

In 2008, inspired by his daughter, Tracy decided to take the whole company green, changing the name to Perf Go Green and completely switching to biodegradable products.

Who else is behind Perf Go Green?
Perf Go Green’s board of directors is filled with talent from the business and green lifestyle arena, including former New York Governor George Pataki and green lifestyle expert David Bach, among other notables.

What is Perf Go Green's mission? What do you do?
Our corporate name, Perf Go Green Holdings, reflects our “Go Green” mission from inception to create a GREEN company for the development and global marketing of eco-friendly, non-toxic, food-contact-compliant biodegradable plastic products as a practical and viable solution to eliminating plastic waste from the world environment.

Our core mission includes a commitment to greening our planet.  We value innovation for our company, or products and our planet.

What products does Perf Go Green currently produce?
We rolled out our first products – 13 gallon tall kitchen trash bags and 30 gallon lawn and leaf bags – in June 2008.  We also will be launching four other products later in the year including commercial garbage bags (various sizes for office buildings and municipalities, parks, beaches, etc.), kitty litter liner bags (three sizes), Doggie Duty™ bags, and 10 foot by 20 foot plastic drop cloths, among others.

So Perf Go Green products are biodegradable. What exactly does that mean?
This means that once Perf Go Green products are discarded (whether that be on land, underground, at sea, etc.) they will completely degrade and break down returning to nature in as little as 12-24 months – leaving absolutely NO residue or harmful toxins.

What makes your products biodegradable?
Perf Go Green products incorporate recycled plastics which are combined with an OXO-BIODEGRADABLE proprietary application method to produce the film for the bags. This product, when discarded in soil in the presence of microorganisms, moisture and oxygen, biodegrades, decomposing into simple materials found in nature.

What do Perf Go Green products decompose into?
The end result of Perf Go Green products are carbon dioxide, water and biomass. This is a two step process. The first step is oxo-degradation which is an abiotic/chemical stage where the plastics break down into smaller particles when exposed in a landfill environment. The second stage is bio-degradation, a microbiological stage in which biodegradation of the fragmented polymer takes place.

The molecular weight of the polymer is reduced during the first step to levels that will allow bacteria, fungi and algae to consume the carbon backbone fragments into their trophic process. The end chemical products of the biodegradation step are carbon dioxide, water and biomass with no toxic or harmful residues to soil, plants or macro-organisms.

How does the oxo-biodegradable application work?
The technology is based on a very small amount of prodegradant additive being introduced into the manufacturing process, thereby changing the behavior of the plastic and the rate at which it degrades.

The bags really leave no pieces or harmful toxins behind?
The plastic does not just fragment, but is then consumed by bacteria and fungi and therefore continues to degrade to nothing more than carbon dioxide, water and biomass with no toxic or harmful residues to soil, plants or macro-organisms.

While Perf Go Green bags seem to do much less harm to the environment, how does using Perf Go Green bags actively help the environment?
All Perf Go Green products incorporate recycled plastics.  This means that with every bag you purchase, you have essentially helped removed plastics from the environment.

Aside from being biodegradable, are there other features that differentiate Perf Go Green bags from other kitchen bags?
Yes. In addition to being biodegradable, Perf Go Green bags utilize a unique patented dispensing system that stores the bags on the bottom of your trash can and dispenses them one at a time like a tissue box. They also have a patented perforation system and are stronger than many of their competitors.

Where can I buy Perf Go Green products?
Perf Go Green’s 13 Gallon Tall Kitchen Trash Bags and 30 Gallon Lawn & Leaf Bags are available for purchase online at DrugStore.com and Amazon.com and will be sold at retailers including Walgreens nationally in the fall.

How long do Perf Go Green products last on the shelf?
Perf Go Green has a shelf life of 2 years.

Where are Perf Go Green products manufactured?

Is Perf Go Green involved with any environmental organizations?
This past year, Perf Go Green founded the Go Green 21.0 Foundation.  The goal of this organization is to foster and promote green education initiatives around the world with the help of schools, and like minded organizations and individuals wanting to make a difference.

The Go Green 21.0 Foundation provides individuals with an opportunity to come together and connect with a community of environmentally conscious and well-informed consumers to make a difference for the planet.

That sounds great.  Can I get involved?
YES.  At Perf, we know that when it comes to helping the environment there are a lot of things we can do to promote great change. The problem is, often times our ideas and initiatives go unnoticed and we don't have the resources to carry them to action. The Go Green 21.0 Foundation can change this by giving environmentally-focused foundations the opportunity to apply for funding for their initiatives.

By working with organizations that fit our criteria, our goal is to support a variety of green initiatives and help make them a success.  To learn about how an organization can submit their cause for consideration, go to: http://www.perfgogreen.com/foundation/fund.html.
